15 March 2021 – Spring is the way in which nature tells us “let’s have a party!”, perfumes, senses that awaken and the desire for an Easter period to be spent with family and friends. It is the moment, par excellence, to celebrate life in its delicacy and uniqueness.

VERO, the startup that promotes and sells products recognized as P.A.T. – Traditional Agri-food Products, has decided to support the “Taste of Life” project of the Nemo Clinical Center, to give a message of hope to everyone:

The example it wants to spread is precisely that of the community of people with neuromuscular diseases such as ALS, SMA, and Muscular Dystrophies – over 40,000 in Italy, for which periods of social distancing are a very frequent possibility in the life path and disease.

The moment of the meal is often experienced with too much effort, due to the difficulty in taking, swallowing and often represents a risk for safety and life itself. People with neurodegenerative diseases, dysphagia or malnutrition problems must follow very strict diets with soft consistencies or in some phases of the disease be fed with PEG and for all these difficulties they lose the desire to live this moment with others.

The Clinical Center Nemo intervenes by guiding, with a team of highly specialized professionals, the patients and their families to a new approach and vision of food, meal preparation and conviviality. A path able to savor every moment of life, to regain confidence and educate to a correct diet, without ever losing the joy of discovering a new taste every day.

The aim of the project is to support the work of the team of the Nemo Clinical Centers (Milan, Rome, Genoa, Naples, Brescia and Trento) dedicated to nutritional aspects as a speech therapist, nutritionist and psychologist, giving them more time to devote to each patient, so that they can concretely improve the quality of life of over 15,000 families.
